From iPods to navigation systems, some of today's hottest gadgets are landing on store shelves with some unwanted extras from the factory: pre-installed viruses that steal passwords, open doors for hackers and make computers spew spam.

Computer users have been warned for years about virus threats from downloading Internet porn and opening suspicious e-mail attachments. Now they run the risk of picking up a digital infection just by plugging a new gizmo into their PCs.

Recent cases reviewed by The Associated Press include some of the most widely used tech devices: Apple iPods, digital picture frames sold by Target and Best Buy stores, and TomTom navigation gear.

Sword & Shield Enterprise Security is ranked 426 on the Inc. Magazine's 5,000 list of the fastest growing privately held businesses in the U.S. Also ranked 45 in the top 100 IT Services companies. The Inc. 5,000 is ranked according to percentage growth from 2003 to 2006. Sword & Shield Enterprise Security's growth from 2003 to 2006 is 672.5%.

NASA Awards Sword & Shield SEWP IV Contract for Government-Wide Acquisitions

The NASA SEWP Program Office announces the award of the SEWP IV GWAC (Government-wide Acquisition Contracts) to thirty-seven companies. The NASA SEWP GWAC provides the latest in Information Technology products for all Federal Agencies. SEWP offers low prices (generally below GSA schedule prices), the lowest surcharge (.065%) and the easiest and fastest ordering procedure using precompeted contracts. Through SEWP, agencies can find an exact fit for their needs at the best overall value by searching the Web and choosing the right solutions offered directly by leading hardware and software manufacturers and experienced Government integrators.

The SEWP IV procurement is a complete follow-on to NASA's SEWP III contracts which are Commercial Firm Fixed-Price (FFP), Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) in nature. The principal purpose of the SEWP IV contracts is to provide state-of-the-art computer technologies, high-end scientific and engineering processing capabilities, peripherals, and network equipment for a period of seven years.

Sword & Shield is also a prime contractor for an existing SEWP III contract and created the SEWP Sales Agent program which allows additional information technologies to be available to Federal government agencies.
